Working Out with Kids

For whatever reason, I couldn't save this post yesterday with the video included. Here's my 8th attempt -

This is a video where me and my boy are doing bench presses, without a bench, a barbell, or any gym equipment!

  1. It is very important to not get "too" serious with children regarding their workouts.

Lord knows so many of us have become so body conscious that that focus detracts from the overall enjoyment of being healthy and being in shape.
The emphasis with children, who just naturally have more anabolic activity going on that catabolic, should be one that emphasizes fun and caring.
If a regimen is too serious with children, later on you won't be able to pay them to put on a set of sweats.

  2. LOL,,that is truly original man. I will have to try this with my lil guy, haha,,, good stuff.

  3. My husband does this with the kids all the time!  He also does pushups with them on his back (which I cringe at being a Chiropractor) and shoulder work by throwing them in the air.  It's lots of fun for the whole crew.

Yeah, I'm pretty physical with the boys. They play "Daddy slide" all the time and we do lots of funny lifts using them. They love it.

Now, I've got them walking around the house yelling "World's Strongest Man!" My 2 year old totally digs it and my 4 year old wants to pull everything there is in the house like they pull airplanes and trucks!

I have Sinusitis problem. Does this affect my body building journey.

  7. billspaced says:

@ tiller The beauty of bodybuilding is that nearly anyone can do it and make progress. Any medical issues you may have should be discussed with your doctor prior to beginning any exercise program or lifestyle change.

However, once you've been cleared by your physician, you should experience rapid changes in your body composition, physical appearance, and fitness, which may help to alleviate some of your symptoms.

Bodybuilding isn't just exercise – it's a complete lifestyle change. Expect many good results.

While it seems logical and intuitive to get your child involved in something that interests them, you might also want to consider the importance of undertaking an activity that interests you.
