January Updates
A lot of things have been going on lately! Here's a recap:
- There's a new user forum. Check it out. If you register and make a post (it can be "Hi"), I'll make you a Platinum member for free (normally it costs $$$).
- I wrote a book on building a
big- no make that – BIG bench press from a pro powerlifter. You can take a look at it here. - Muscle-Build.com now has a Facebook fan page (so does Bench Press Blueprint). "Fan" it and get all the latest updates right in FB.
- I've built several more websites. More on this later. They're all in the fitness/bodybuilding niche.
- I'm working (still!) on a 16-week comprehensive muscle-building course. You'll be the first to know when it's ready.
- I've got 2 reviews in the hopper — by this I mean I have some reading and then thinking and then writing to do. But I've got the review copies on hand.
- I'm getting a unique training tool that I'll review here too. It will solve one of key issues that we all face, especially those of us who LIFT THINGS for fun. It'll help you with throwing sports, too, like baseball, basketball, and football. Track and field, too. It's super cool. More to follow.
- Of course, I'm adding more content all of the time. One topic I want to tackle is how to stay fit while traveling (or on vacation, whatever the case may be).
- Other topics I want to delve into more deeply: Supplementation (I'm trying to line up some freebies), more unique training methods, and fat-burning with weight training (because I hate aerobics, cardio, running, and other junk). Yes, I know…but even though I hate them, I do them
- One last thing: I'm really leaning heavily toward going to the Arnold Expo in Ohio. Anybody else going? Should I go? Funny thing: I'm going to Ohio, from California, to see Arnold, who is the Governor of California! That cracks me up.
As "they" say, that's it in a nutshell.

Great article as always.
Hi, could you tell more about the Arnold Expo ? It is the first time I hear about it.
Yeah, the Arnold Expo is the biggest sports exposition in the country. It's truly huge, just like Arnold used to be
It started out as a bodybuilding and strength expo, but it's turned into a mega expo with everything from MMA, to weightlifting, strength, powerlifting, gymastics, wrestling – there's a ton there. I cannot imagine ever getting bored!
More here on the Arnold.

What I can say about this site is – this is an excellent site. I am doing workouts as adviced in this site. Lot of good tutorials. I rate 5/5 for this site.
Hi. What is the best way to do pushups easily ?
The best way to do push ups is to start out propped up against a chair, so that your shoulders are higher in elevation than your hips. When you can comfortably do 10 reps this way, move to floor push ups and then to feet-elevated push ups. After that you can add weight either by weighted vest or by having a plate placed on your back (in the floor push up, not the others).
Hope this helps.
Hello Bill, I just read your reply to Escuelas . It was really helpful for me and I am about to do this every day. Thanks.
Hi rototillers, that's good to hear. If you only did 3 bodyweight exercises, you'd be far ahead of most everybody else – pushups, pull ups, and squats (when you graduate to one-legged squats, you're golden).
Then, couple that with some cardio, good nutrition, and proper relaxation – you're on the road to great long-lasting health and fitness.
Glad to hear that you're finding this site helpful!
I want only to maintain my body. Can you please suggest some good exercises for that. I mean not making muscles. Just to keep body fit and uniform shape.
Hi Tenerife,
You maintain your body using the same exercises as when building muscle; of course, you can use more isolation movements, too.
I always recommend complex exercises because you get the most bang for the buck with them. You activate the most muscle fibers possible. Just do a few less overall sets, keep your reps in the 10-15 range (rather than the 6-10 range for muscle-building), and don't employ many high intensity methods (like rest-pause, forced reps, or negatives).
