I Am Here for the Backlink

Like what you see here? Become a subscriber today and get a ton of free stuff!. Thanks for coming back!

There are perils of having a liberal "Do Follow" comment policy. For one, I get a few jokers who just want to disparage me and/or my friends, and frankly, I'm getting tired of it.

I mean, why even bother? This is a "game" I will win. You only make yourself look like a jackass when you make stupid comments, PLUS I'll just end up banning you from being able to comment. Note that I've done this ONCE. I really try to tolerate and encourage varying viewpoints; I think different perspectives give all of us a richer user experience and we just may learn something.

However, if you make yourself so intolerable that I have no other choice but to banish you from making comments, I am a little saddened.

I know some of you come here just because I offer "do follow" backlinks from the comments section. You SEO experts know this is a great way to get a valuable backlink from a relatively popular website. Your search results will only go up by commenting here.

I get that.

So what I've decided to do is just put a post here where you can freely comment in whatever gibberish you wish to spew just to get a backlink. This is that post. Make your irrelevant comments here.

Okay? :)

Do What Your Momma Taught You

Be nice or leave - do what your momma taught youI am very lenient with my comment policy. I want engagement and connections on this site, so I don't limit folks – I don't make you register or sign up for anything to post a comment and comments are "do follow" so, if you have your own site, you get a valuable back link from my site to yours. This helps YOU get better results at Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Ask (and most other search engines).

In short, I want you to comment here because it's good for me and it's good for you.

HOWEVER, recently, there have been some folks commenting here who are very judgmental, derogatory, or just downright ugly and mean.

I have chosen to refrain – for the most part – from censuring the comments made here. As long as they don't end up as SPAM, I let them fly.

Recent activity has made me rethink this policy. Before I change anything, I'm going to ask you to really think about your motivations when you comment here.

  • If your goal is to add to the discussion, then you're gold
  • If your aim is to belittle others or make snide comments that would make your mother cringe, then you're out

I will not only trash your comments, but I will also mark them as SPAM. This has seriously negative effects on you. A word of warning: Once your IP and/or email address are marked as SPAM within Akismet, you're going to have a difficult time making an ass of yourself on other sites.

Consider my marking you as a SPAMMER a favor I'm doing you.

After all, one of these days, one of the folks you disparage or belittle may just kick your ass.

So cut the bullshit and make intelligent comments on MY blog. This isn't your site. You are a visitor here. If you shit on my sofa, I'm going to rub your face in it, make you clean it up, kick your ass out, and make you suffer.

Or, put another way -

If you don't have anything nice to say, keep your mouth shut, just like your Momma taught you.

Or somebody will shut it for you.

Follow Up to Do Follow

In case you guys hadn’t guessed yet, my blog is not only do follow for the comment link, but also the links within the comments!

Don’t abuse this feature; if you do, I’ll tag you as SPAM and will take down your comment.

However, if you leave a relevant comment with an equally relevant link within the comment, I’ll post it and both your name and your internal link will be “do follow.”

Cool?

How to Reach 15,000 Visits in One Month

Last month, I pushed you to visit Muscle-Build.com, hoping to get past 10,000 visitors. This month, is it too much to ask to try to get to 15,000? Is it doable?

Certainly.

Is it likely? No.

Sadly, I have to average 483 visits over the course of the entire month. However, 483, coincidentally, is the highest visitor number I’ve reached. I’ve only averaged 375 visits thus far.

So to get to 15,000 from here, I have to average a whopping 609. I’ve surpassed 600 visits in a day 2 times!

This is what I’m going to do. I’m going to beg ;)

Seriously, getting there is my goal, but it is not the be-all, end-all. I really derive no benefit, other than more nice people like you get to experience what I have to say.

Can I ask a favor, though? Can you Stumble, Tweet, and send to Facebook these 3 links:

  1. http://www.muscle-build.com/building-muscle-blog.html
  2. http://www.muscle-build.com/gallon-of-milk-a-day.html
  3. http://www.muscle-build.com/hardgainer.html

The first two pages get the most hits of any of my Muscle-Build.com pages (other than the home page). #3 is my attempt to show “hardgainers” how to rapidly put on weight.

Once upon a time, I was a hardgainer. Still am, really. I just used to be really skinny. It was a long, hard battle to put on weight for me; in fact, from 12 until about 28, I didn’t have much progress.

But I’m stubborn. Nearing my 30s, I decided to give reaching 200 pounds another try. I mean, I tried really hard. And you know what? I got there! Finally. The Hardgainer Manifesto is the blueprint I used to go from 140 to 205 in a little over a year.

How did I do it? You can check it out for yourself.

Getting back to my point of reaching 15,000 visits this month – when I have a goal, I reach it. But I cannot, of course, do it without you.

Visit the links above. Share them with your friends. Tweet about them. Stumble them. Get the word out that I share a lot of really good info here.

See those little buttons down there under “Share and Enjoy?” Feel free to spread the message that way. Remember, this is a self-funded site – the more visitors you bring my way, the more potential money they generate, and I can bring you even better stuff.

Thanks!

A Note About “Do Follow” Comments

As you may know, I have set up this site (in fact, all of my sites) as “do follow” because I want to encourage active commenting. It is my belief that doing so will foster an atmosphere of caring and sharing and that this will benefit all of us who come here.

Lately, people have been trying to exploit the system by leaving comments like “Hi.”

Take a little bit more time and add to that please! If you’re going to make the effort and take the time to register, type the comment, and click submit, why not make the comment relevant to the post? Seriously, it takes, what, 30 seconds to make an intelligent comment?

If you make a comment like “Hi” you’ve wasted your time because I will not only remove it, but I will also mark it as SPAM, which will only serve to hamper your commenting abilities on other blogs.

Here’s an excerpt from my newly-updated “Do Follow” page:

Finally, if you make a comment like “Hi” or “Thanks” I will most likely purge it from the system. Let’s work on making this a community where each of us contributes. I do my part by making posts and pages and by responding to comments; can you do your part by making intelligent comments?

I don’t mean to beĀ  a jerk about this. But you have to remember, this is my blog and I put a lot of effort into it. You could return the courtesy by putting a little effort into it.

I certainly hope this is the last time I have to write about this topic, but I am skeptical; there will always be people who want to take and never give anything.

But you’re not like that, right?
